Within the city, rentals must have a minimum stay of 7 nights and be situated in approved zones. Property owners looking to operate a short-term rental must obtain a state and city-issued Vacation Rental License, establish a county-issued Tourist Development Tax (TDT) account, and secure a Business Tax Receipt (BTR) Certificate from the City of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County. Palm Beach County also enforces specific occupancy limits, allowing a maximum of 2 individuals per bedroom with an additional 2 persons per rental unit, accommodating up to 12 guests in total.

In addition to these local taxes, property owners are also responsible for collecting Florida's state sales tax at a rate of 6% on rental charges, which will be collected from guests during payment.
